The Incomparable Augusta National
There is no place on Earth like Augusta National, but if there were — what would it look like? Andy and I are very much on the same page about comp courses for this week — Kapalua, Riviera and Muirfield Village. The best players on those three courses dating back to 2008 (min 20 rounds):
Jon Rahm +2.29 (41 rounds)
Patrick Cantlay +1.71 (57 rounds)
Collin Morikawa +1.58 (29 rounds)
Xander Schauffele +1.57 (50 rounds)
Justin Rose +1.54 (70 rounds)
Longer Than Most!
There’s a case to be made that Augusta National will play longer this year than most in recent memory. The obvious lengthening of holes 11 and 15 will push the course to over 7,500 yards on the scorecard. With rain in recent weeks and more forecasted for Tuesday (and maybe Thursday AM), there could be very little runout on the fairways. If you want to find guys who hit it far and are likely to contend, here are the 10 golfers who have averaged 310+ yards and 0.50 strokes gained per round in the last 40 rounds:
Let’s Talk Tiger
There’s so many layers to this, but I just want to remind you of this image from Day 1 of the PNC Championship in December.
That’s a ball speed of 171 MPH off the face of Tiger Woods. The TOUR average ball speed is, you guessed it, 171.74 MPH. Collin Morikawa checks in at 171.12 MPH on average this season. Si Woo Kim is at 169.16. Webb Simpson is 167.93.
THIS WAS FOUR MONTHS AGO!
Do I think Tiger wins? No. Does he compete? Probably Not. I just believe that he’s likely in better shape than we can even imagine.
Say Your Prayers
Amen Corner might be the most infamous stretch of golf on the planet. Hole 11 is one of the most treacherous Par-4s on the golf course, many Green Jacket dreams have sunk in Rae’s Creek at no. 12 and no. 13 is … actually a pretty gettable par-5. If you can play Amen Corner at even par over four days, you’re doing just fine.
It seems that PrizePicks is going to challenge this premise and they chose to set their Amen Corner lines at 11.5 strokes. I’ve compiled all the data on Amen Corner dating back to 2008 to see if there’s an edge.
Dustin Johnson and Jon Rahm are the available props for now. Rahm has played Amen Corner under 11.5 in 11/20 rounds. I actually think I prefer the over for Rahm considering they’ve lengthened no. 11. You can use this sheet to see all the golfers.
I also gave out Brooks Koepka over 11.5 on The Scramble today.

One & Done Chalk
Over at OfficeFootballPool.com, there’s a feature where you can see the sitewide OAD picks before the tournament locks. I’ve noticed that it is pretty representative across the industry. Here are the most popular OAD picks for this week:
Justin Thomas 21%
Cam Smith 20.6%
Jon Rahm 16.6%
Dustin Johnson 11.2%
Brooks Koepka 10.4%
Good luck!
